Haseen Dillruba Review

Haseen Dillruba (English translation: Beautiful Beloved) is a new installment on Netflix. It is a romantic thriller film directed by Vinil Mathew. The film stars Vikrant Massey, Tapsee Pannu, and Harshvardhan Rane.

Rishabh, wanting to get married, visits Rani’s house in search of the woman of his life. He eventually ends up marrying her. The dispute soon escalates between the couple. Thinking about her failed marriage, Rani falls in love with an outsider named Neel. A few days later, Rishabh dies in the gas explosion at the house. The police suspect Rani. Did a wife kill her husband to get together with her lover?

Review :

First things first, the cast gave an excellent performance in portraying this fictional trio. The chemistry between Tapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey is as incredible as their performance. Harshvardhan Rane gave his best in playing the negative role. A man, who is on screen for barely 15 minutes, can make you feel hatred for him, imagine how well he must have played his character.

The mystery in this film was also very interesting. As described in the plot, the movie starts with the unfortunate death of Rishabh Saxena. The police suspect Rani and ask about her relationship with her husband. So, we see this film through her eyes as she narrates her story to the police. Therefore, it makes us question whether she is telling the truth or tricking the police.

The film also did a good job of showcasing Rani’s behavior towards her in-laws. Her encounter with her mother-in-law and arguing over little things was very funny. Some of those moments wouldn’t be that funny in real life. However, the way these moments are captured on camera makes it impossible to contain your laughter.

I have mixed feelings about the screenplay of this film. The first act of the film was wonderful. It beautifully portrays a typical Indian couple. The humor and the romantic moments of the two lovebirds were fascinating.  The second act of the film was also good, but I did not enjoy it as much as the first act. I was more invested in the first act. Likewise, as the film progresses, it loses its charm in the third act. The third act would be the least interesting part of all three.

The story was very realistic in the first two acts. They are compiled with the situation and circumstances through which every married couple goes. Therefore, many of you would be able to relate these characters with yourself. Since the first two acts manage to engage the audience with the story, the third act was supposed to end the story in the best way. Besides, it demolished all my hopes. This third act would still be enjoyable for many of you, but for me, it destroyed the realistic nature of the film.

Haseen Dillruba was quite a nice movie for me. The overall story of the movie was very interesting. It is very different from the rest of the movies I have seen this year. Even though I have some issues with the last two acts, the film never bored me at all. I was on board for the whole time figuring what would have happened between this trio.

If you are looking for a good Bollywood movie, I think this is it. The film certainly has some flaws, but I don’t think they bother you much. The romantic moments, comedic scenes, and mystery will keep you invested in the film. Visit IMDb for more information about Haseen Dillruba movie.
